I want to be the 11foot8 bridge when I grow up.

I was driving on the Merritt Pkwy yesterday under a 9’7” clearance. I instantly thought of this bridge and what would happen to a tall truck at highway speeds.

Best channel ever

Just a little bit faster and he could’ve totally peeled the roof and kept going!

Never lift. :P

Aside from the many tall truck signs, I’d imagine a 9'7" bridge is probably actually less dangerous because it’s more likely to register as low to drivers. 11'8" is much closer to a more standard 14' bridge. Trucks do still find their way onto the parkways from time to time. Here’s one barely fitting under a taller bridge:
And a much more dramatic attempt on Long Island:

Love that channel.
My father’s office is right next to a similar style low tunnel that claims a few trucks each year. This was one he just sent me last week. I keep telling him he needs to set up a camera.

And made a giant pool!!

One time I went to someone’s house that was through an 8' tunnel. I know my car is only about 5'-6' high with the antenna included, but I still felt like I was going to hit it.

I’ve had some nervous moments in parking garages and I know my roof is at the hood level of a modern pickup.

Oh my god, that’s a swimming pool supply truck.
OH MY GOD, THAT TRUCK COULD’VE BEEN CARRYING OXIDIZERS!
OH MY GOD THAT TRUCK COULD’VE BEEN CARRYING CHLORINE + OXIDIZERS!!!!
Fire his ass. That truck could’ve been a fucking bomb.

That first one looks very familiar. I held my breath. The second one, I feel like the idiot might have made it h ad he been in the middle lane. Maybe.
You’d think the drivers would plan ahead of time. But if not, and you have to stop when you come to one, there’s nowhere to go.

Wow, is this the first one in a long time that’s been a CDL driver? Almost all of them seem to be from rental companies that will give a truck to anyone. This guy probably should have know better.

As a cyclist I always feared this one:
I’m pretty sure even standing on the pedals, I wouldn’t be 7', but damn it felt low.

I like the part where he was stuck there for TWO HO UR S thinking about what he just did.

1) i went to swimmingpool.com, don’t think he’ll get a referral click though
2) the way the truck suddenly reconnected with the trailer at 6:08 was very GTAesque

Took a nice deep dive....

A clearly possible CDL driver given this was a SEMI that crashed into the can opener
. The rental trucks that crash into 11foot8 ad nausem are believed
to have been driven by many by non-CDL renters. Others are a hit or miss on status of the drivers
. Dunno what the requirements are for driving trucks over a certain height in that state without CDL certs
.

A little faster and he would have made it through! Slacker.

Ho ly crap! That's definitely low. One time I worked in a house with 7' ceilings in the basement for some reason, and I felt the need to bend over even though I'm 5'11".

90% of the way to a complete can opener. Don’t stop now!

i’ll give him credit though, he did the job properly.
